In this video, we take a look at how you reset a Sony Playstation 5 DualSense controller. As performing a reset on a PS5 DualSense controller will reset its internal electronics and sensors.
Note: You would typically perform a reset, if you were experiencing input lag or problems wirelessly connecting the controller to your games console. However, the process demonstrated in this video will not downgrade to a previous version of the controllers firmware, or fix physical hardware problems such as controller drift or loose triggers.
Controller Drift can in some instances be fixed by using fast drying contact cleaner in and around the base of the controller sticks. For this task we recommend WD-40 Specialist Fast Drying Contact Cleaner.
Quick reference notes:
- Power down your PlayStation 5 games console
- On the rear of your DualSense controller you will find a reset switch
- Using some sort of reset tool (ie a paperclip or pen)
- Press and hold the reset switch for 3 to 5 seconds using your reset tool
Note: As performing a reset will not delete the Bluetooth pairing to our console. We can now power up our console by pressing the PS button. If you want to factory reset your PS5 DualSense controller then please see the following video: How to return a PlayStatin 5 DualSense controller back to it factory defaults.
