In this video we take a look at how you de-register and Factory Reset a 4th Generation Amazon Echo. Typically you would perform this action if you intend to decommission, sell or give away your Amazon Echo.
Notes: In order to correctly deregister an Amazon Echo, the device needs to be connected to the internet. It is also worth noting that by Factory Resetting your Echo, you will be removing any settings, applications and data that may have been stored on the device.
Quick reference notes:
- Locate the volume down and microphone off button
- Mute the Amazon Echo
- Now press and hold down both the volume down and microphone off buttons for 20 seconds, or until the indicator light turns orange.
- Wait roughly 2 minutes while the Echo resets.
Notes: Performing a Factory Reset on an Amazon Echo will take roughly 2 minutes to complete. However while the Echo is being reset, do not remove the power from the device. The factory reset will be completed when the Amazon Echo informs you that it is ready to be setup.
