How to Factory reset a 4th Gen (2020) Amazon Echo Dot

In this video we take a look at how you de-register and Factory Reset a 4th Generation Amazon Echo Dot. Typically you would perform this action if you intend to decommission, sell or give away your Echo Dot.

Notes: In order to correctly deregister an Amazon Echo Dot, the device needs to be connected to the internet. It is also worth noting that by Factory Resetting your Echo Dot, you will be removing any settings, applications and data that may have been stored on the device.

Quick reference notes:

  • Locate the volume down and microphone off button
  • Mute the Echo Dot
  • Press and hold down both the volume down and microphone off buttons for 20 seconds, or until the indicator light turns orange.
  • Wait roughly 2 minutes while the Echo Dot resets.

Notes: Performing a Factory Reset on an Amazon Dot will take roughly 2 minutes to complete. While the Echo Dot is being reset do not remove the power from the device. The factory reset will be completed when the Echo Dot informs you that it is ready to be setup.
